The right conversation at the right time can change the course of a young person's future. 🚀
Earlier this month, Bronx Burners hosted a Career Panel for our high school and college students, bringing together professionals from across a variety of industries to share their experiences and answer one simple question: "What do you wish you knew when you were just starting your career?"
Representing fields including technology sales, finance, startups, nonprofit leadership, athletics, and law, our panelists spoke candidly about their career paths, the challenges they faced, the lessons they learned, and the advice they'd give to the next generation.

The discussion concluded with an engaging Q&A, where our students asked thoughtful questions about everything from choosing a career path to standing out as young professionals.

As Bronx Burners Scholarship Chair Miri Buckland put it: "All it takes is one story, one conversation, or one connection to change the trajectory of a career. Thank you to our panelists for so generously sharing their stories and the lessons they've learned along the way, and to our scholars for showing up eager, asking brilliant questions, and creating new opportunities for themselves. Nights like this remind us what it's all about."
Creating opportunity doesn't stop at scholarships or the starting line. It means giving young people access to mentors, perspectives, and conversations that help them see what's possible.
A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and wisdom to invest in our youth. Your stories will have an impact long after the panel ended.
If you're a professional who is passionate about investing in the next generation, we'd love to have you involved in future Bronx Burners programming. Reach out to us at miri@bronxburnersrc.org to get involved.
